Record services

The following record types are available. Digital images are converted to PDF with delivery options. Rates are less than those of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) though arrive in less than two weeks as compared to several months. Requests may also be supported by online database searches (e.g., Ancestry, Fold3, newspaper) at no additional charge.

Military Service Records - Often include enlistment information including date, location, physical appearance; chronological reports showing dates and statuses (e.g., present, on detail, furlough, sick in hospital, missing); prisoner of war reports; casualty sheets indicating date and nature of injury; disability discharge statements; muster-out discharge information. Personal letters and medical transcripts are found at times though rare. Cost per complete file - $20.

Pension Records - Complete pension files include a motherlode of information only available at NARA in DC. Files often include disability pension claim applications, medical examiner reports; affidavits and depositions from officers, comrades, neighbors, employers and family members; marriage certificates; children names and birthdates. Personal letters to family members are at times included. Photographic images are rare but happen. Cost per file - $75 for 100 pages. Requestors will be notified if a file includes more than 100 pages along with options for completion as needed.
